Kelly Jefferson, Masterson Method Certified Practitioner

WHAT I DO

I provide a method of equine bodywork in which the horse actively participates. During my sessions, the horse will release tension and improve the range of motion in key body junctions.

MY FOCUS

My focus is on what is best for the horse. I want to find primary causes so we can get to the bottom of what your horse is struggling with. I’m here to improve the horse.

MY TRAINING

I am a Masterson Method Certified Practitioner, Equine Specialist, Instructor and Coach. I am also Certified in Equine CranioSacral therapy.

My Story

I grew up on a small farm in Colorado. Life was full of various animals, but most important to me, horses. I grew up thinking that horses were big tough animals, it was not a time when we paid attention or understood the challenges they were experiencing. I am grateful for the progress we’ve made in recognizing and supporting these amazing creatures that will do anything for us.

In 2012 I discovered Masterson Method when I observed a practitioner doing body work on a horse. I could visibly see the horse releasing tension, and I witnessed the horse working “with” the practitioner – he was actively participating. I was so intrigued by what I witnessed that I enrolled in the Masterson Method Weekend seminar. That’s where I learned that I could make a real different in horse’s life and decided to become certified in the Masterson Method.

I have been a Masterson Method Certified Practitioner since 2015. I’m also a Masterson Method Coach, helping to teach and progress future practitioners.

After becoming certified I began researching equine therapy programs. I found it interesting that when people are in therapy situations, whether it is physical or mental, working with the horse not only benefits the horses, it also benefits the person. That’s when I decided I need to be trained as an Equine Therapy Specialist. By including this training in my “toolbox” of skills, I can offer a more holistic approach to working with horses. I completed the Equine-Assisted Activities and Therapy (EAAT) program offered by Masterson Equine Services, which allows me to work in partnership with mental health therapists.
